The middle of July has arrived, and while summer showcase season may be over, there’s still plenty of exciting news and content to discuss at Nintendo Life. This week, we delved into a list of 21 vintage Nintendo games that can only be played on their original hardware, explored the exciting announcements from Limited Run Games’ showcase, and got a sneak peek at the upcoming TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge DLC, Dimension Shellshock. But that’s not all! We also provided a quick recap of the Pikmin story ahead of Pikmin 4 and celebrated the memorable Master Sword moment in Tears of the Kingdom. In our reviews, we had the opportunity to try out the latest DLC wave for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which we found to be good but not exceptional, and we shared our thoughts on OXENFREE II: Lost Signals, a game we considered to be nearly flawless in its execution.

NL Team’s Gaming Plans for the Weekend

Now, let’s take a look at what some members of the NL team have planned for their weekend gaming sessions. Feel free to join the conversation and share your own gaming plans in the comments!

1. Writer 1:
I made the mistake of starting one of the GBA games in the NSO library, intending to play for just ten minutes. However, I quickly became engrossed and lost an entire evening to the game. Curse you, Fire Emblem, and your captivating sprites! On another note, I suddenly have an urge to revisit Majora’s Mask 3D. I can’t quite pinpoint where this desire came from, but it seems I can only go so long without a Zelda replay on my mind.

2. Writer 2:
Last week, I mentioned my plan to start Xenoblade Chronicles 3 from scratch, and I’ve followed through on that intention. This weekend, I’ll be diving into the game. I’m still at the beginning, so I have a long journey ahead of me. Nevertheless, it will keep me entertained during the quieter summer months.

On the PS5, I believe I’m nearing the end of Final Fantasy XVI. The story seems to be reaching its climax, so I’m taking some time to complete remaining Hunts and craft a powerful sword before facing the final boss.

3. Writer 3:
For me, this weekend is all about revisiting the Nintendo 64 library. I’ll be immersing myself in WCW/nWo Revenge, Virtual Pro Wrestling 2, and Final Soldier. Additionally, I’ve received some fantastic physical releases for the Switch, including the hilarious UnMetal, Oceanhorn 1 & 2, Star Wars KotOR II, Shadowrun Trilogy, ANNO: Mutationem, and the exhilarating Espgaluda II. I’ll try to resist the temptation to play Gamecube and Dreamcast games this time since my neglected musical career needs attention.

Game of the week for me is F-Zero AX. I managed to unlock the hidden AX arcade version in F-Zero GX for Gamecube using a cheat code. Let me tell you, racing against 29 opponents and trying to beat the checkpoint clocks transforms the game into intense, fast-paced arcade sessions. We desperately need (at the very least) a Switch remaster of this fantastic racing game.

In summary, there’s been an abundance of exciting news and content on Nintendo Life this week. From vintage Nintendo games to upcoming DLC releases and reviews of recent titles, there’s something for everyone. As for the NL team, they have a diverse selection of games to enjoy over the weekend, spanning various consoles and genres. Whether it’s revisiting beloved classics or immersing themselves in new adventures, the team is eager to dive into their chosen games. Now it’s your turn – what are your gaming plans for the weekend?
