Trash Of The Titans is a unique strategy game developed by Alex ‘Thayer And Back Again’ that immediately evokes Final Fantasy Tactics with its grid-based, elevation-respecting gameplay. Players take on the role of a party of assorted trash mammals tasked with protecting their rotting hauls from a gang of criminal vermin known as The Rat Crue. Despite the misspelling of ‘crew,’ the game manages to convey a sense of affection towards its antagonistic dumpster diving scuttlers.

The game features a vaguely roguelike structure where each stage leads to the next, and players can nab upgrades based on how much trash they managed to protect. The setting of the game is left somewhat vague, hinting at a bizarre culture of nibbling at whole chickens before discarding them, as that is the majority of the trash found in the game.

Each trash mammal in the game has its own specialization. For example, the Badger serves as a tank, capable of clearing gaps by charging and receiving a bonus buff to attack damage based on their missing health. The Racoon is a sneak thief who can turn invisible and backstab enemies. The Possum serves as an archer, taking advantage of elevation, while the Skunk is a fart-shaman with poison gas attacks used for board control.

Trash Of The Titans includes several quality of life features that enhance the gameplay experience. Players can preview specific attack damage, and move and attack points are spent separately, allowing for strategic plays. Additionally, players can collect boons for extra abilities and receive bonus buffs and upgrades at the end of each mission based on how much trash they manage to save.

Trash Of The Titans is a fun and engaging strategy game that offers a unique gameplay experience. The game’s affection towards its villainous vermin characters and diverse abilities for each trash mammal make it an enjoyable and entertaining choice for players looking for a tactical challenge. Despite its initial portrayal of rats in a negative light, the game manages to redeem itself through its gameplay mechanics and overall charm. Trash Of The Titans is definitely worth a try for strategy game enthusiasts.
