TikTok is currently developing a feature that will allow users to create AI-generated profile pictures, according to social media expert Matt Navarra, who shared videos and images of the feature with The Verge. The feature would be integrated into the TikTok app, which means that users will likely see more AI-made avatars on their feeds.

How it Works

Users will be prompted to submit three to ten photos and select two to five different styles for the AI-made photos. The feature then generates the pictures, which can take some time to complete. Once the images are ready, users can download them, set one of them as their profile picture, or post them to their TikTok stories.

Potential for Creative Expression

The examples shared by Navarra on Twitter and with The Verge showcase a variety of fun styles that users can choose from. This feature has the potential to encourage users to create more creative and unique avatars of themselves, much like they did with Prisma Labs’ Lensa app.

TikTok has yet to comment on the new feature, but it is expected to be a popular addition to the app. With the rise of AI-generated content, it will be interesting to see how this technology continues to develop and impact social media platforms.
