As we approach the end of summer, it’s important to take a moment and look back at the standout video games that graced the Nintendo Switch eShop in July. While the Switch itself may not have seen many major releases, the eShop was bustling with excitement and new titles for gamers to enjoy.

Let’s dive into the top three eShop games of July, as voted by our staff and contributors. These games stood out among the rest and deserve recognition for their innovation, gameplay, and overall quality.

Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus impressed with its stunning visuals and unique pogo mechanics, making it a standout Metroidvania game in the year of 2024. Developed by Squid Shock Studios, the game garnered an 8/10 rating from Nintendo Life, securing its spot in third place for July’s eShop Selects.

SCHiM took a different approach to platforming with its shadow-hopping mechanic, which became the central focus of the game. While it may not have expanded beyond this core mechanic, the game’s novelty and beautiful visuals earned it a solid 7/10 score. SCHiM captured the hearts of many at Nintendo Life, making it a fan favorite among the staff.

Securing the top spot by a single vote, Furniture & Mattress’ debut title, Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure, stole the show in July’s eShop Selects. This delightful puzzler impressed with its heartwarming story, evolving gameplay mechanics, and charming visuals. The game received an 8/10 rating from Nintendo Life and left a lasting impression with its nods to Zelda and RPG elements.

At the end of each month, the Nintendo Life staff votes on their favorite eShop titles from the month’s releases. Only digital-only Nintendo Switch eShop titles that have been reviewed on Nintendo Life are eligible for consideration. Staff members rank their top three games, with points assigned to each choice. The top three games with the highest total points are selected as that month’s eShop Selects winners.

July’s eShop Selects showcased a diverse range of games, from traditional platformers to innovative puzzlers. The top three games stood out for their exceptional quality and gameplay, highlighting the creativity and talent present in the indie gaming scene on the Nintendo Switch. As we look forward to the coming months, we can only hope for more exciting eShop releases that captivate and inspire gamers around the world.
