Every year, gamers like myself eagerly anticipate the Black Friday season, scouring the internet for the best Black Friday PS5 deals in the hopes of snagging their favorite games at discounted prices. However, it’s a bittersweet experience as we can’t help but feel a pang of regret for giving in to our impulsive desire to buy games on day one.

A Costly Year

2023 has been a particularly expensive year for me, as I have indulged in my passion for physical game collections. I’ve immersed myself in the world of Dead Island 2, battled through the horrors of Dead Space, cast spells in Hogwarts Legacy, and stealthily roamed the streets of Baghdad in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. All of this has come at a hefty cost, amounting to a total of $329.95.

The Regret of Missed Savings

But here’s the painful truth: if I had just waited for this year’s Black Friday offers, I could have saved a significant amount of money. In fact, I could have slashed my expenses by $135, allowing me to enjoy these games and still have some extra cash in my pocket. Moreover, I would have also received additional Dead Island swag, making the deal even sweeter.

The Black Friday PS5 deals this year are undeniably exceptional. For example, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, originally priced at $69.99, is now available for just $29.99 on Amazon. Best Buy offers Assassin’s Creed: Mirage at a discounted price of $39.99 instead of $59.99. The complete Dead Island 2 HELL-A edition, which includes all the extra collectibles, can now be purchased for $49.99 on Amazon, offering a value of $99.99 for less than the standard game’s price.

While some games are must-have day one purchases, such as Dead Island 2, which I have eagerly awaited for nearly a decade, it’s crucial to reflect on our buying habits. As I stare at my untouched copy of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, still wrapped in its plastic prison, I can’t help but feel a strong urge to change my ways.

Gaming has become an increasingly expensive hobby, and I find myself regretting not taking full advantage of my PS Plus subscription while waiting for prices to drop. With the rising costs of games, especially for next-gen consoles like the PS5, it becomes essential to strike a balance between our desires for immediate gratification and the potential savings that come with patience.

Black Friday PS5 deals present a tantalizing opportunity to save money on our favorite games. It’s a harsh reminder that impulsive purchases can leave us with a sense of regret, especially when significant savings are just around the corner. As gamers, we must learn from our past mistakes and make more informed choices in the future, ultimately maximizing our gaming experiences while minimizing the strain on our wallets.
