Final Fantasy XIV has solidified its reputation as an MMO with an impressive list of achievements. Just how impressive, you may ask? Well, one dedicated player recently took a staggering 10 years to earn every single achievement in the game. This incredible feat caught the attention of director and producer Naoki Yoshida, who expressed his awe during a press conference at the Final Fantasy Fan Festival in London. Yoshida not only congratulated the anonymous Japanese player on their accomplishment but also entertained the idea of creating even more challenging achievements in the future.
The player, who hailed from the lalafell race, completed their mission of conquering all 2,751 achievements in August. Their monumental quest included various daunting challenges, such as winning thousands of PvP battles, catching every fish, completing 10,000 hunts, clearing every treasure dungeon at least 20 times, and finishing every levequest. The latter alone was estimated to take at least seven years of real-time due to the daily limit on repeatable side quests. Final Fantasy XIV’s achievements were certainly never intended to be a mere walk in the park.
Yoshida, lovingly referred to as Yoshi-P by the community, pledged that the game’s developers would continue to create additional achievements for players to tackle. In fact, he expressed a willingness to concoct even more hardcore challenges if the player who had already completed every existing achievement desired an even greater test. “If they are requesting it, then of course, we’d be happy to do it,” Yoshida stated. He encouraged the player to contact the development team via the forums, promising to honor their request. A true testament to the game’s commitment to its dedicated player base.
While aspiring achievement hunters eagerly await the possibility of new and even more difficult tasks, they won’t have to wait too long for fresh challenges. Final Fantasy XIV will be introducing a series of new dungeons and quests prior to the next summer expansion called Dawntrail. Yoshida and the development team have already outlined plans for the two major expansions following Dawntrail, ensuring that players will have a constant stream of achievements to pursue.
