Square Enix’s Lara Croft series is set to make its way to the Nintendo Switch with the release of ‘The Lara Croft Collection’ by Feral Interactive Limited. The collection includes two action-adventure games – Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. The games, which were initially set to release in 2021 but were delayed until 2023, have now been rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) for the Nintendo Switch.

In these two games, players assist Lara Croft, the protagonist, and her team in their search for ancient artifacts that can prevent the destruction of the world. From a 3/4-overhead perspective, players navigate through jungle ruins and ancient temples, solve puzzles, and battle hordes of enemy creatures, including dinosaurs, giant scarabs, and stone demons. To defeat their opponents, players can use spears, pistols, machine guns, and rifles in fast-paced combat. Players can expect realistic gunfire, large explosions, and screen-shaking effects to accompany battles. Some creatures break apart into pieces and/or emit splashes of yellow liquid when hit, and there are instances of red blood, including large stains appearing as a creature is crushed between spiked rollers, and a book page stained with blood drops. The word “bastard” is also used in the game.

The delay of Guardian of Light and Temple of Osiris was confirmed by Feral Interactive Limited in December 2022. The developer mentioned that it was looking forward to sharing more about the games in the new year. While the games will be available on the Switch eShop, Feral Interactive Limited has also mentioned that it is considering a physical release.

Fans of the Lara Croft series can now look forward to playing these classic games on the Nintendo Switch. With the release of ‘The Lara Croft Collection,’ players can immerse themselves in the world of Lara Croft and help her team save the world from destruction. The games’ exciting action sequences and puzzles are sure to captivate players and provide an entertaining gameplay experience.
