In Cyberpunk 2077, players are introduced to Delamain, an AI that operates Night City’s taxi service, through various missions known as Epistrophy. The first encounter with Delamain happens during the Heist mission with Jackie at the beginning of the game. Delamain is initially just a computer program running a car service. However, as the game progresses, players will meet Delamain again during the Human Nature mission, where a divergent AI taxi wrecks the player’s car. Delamain will then apologize for the incident and invite the player to his headquarters.

Locating the Delamain Taxis

Delamain explains to the player that several of his AI taxis have gone rogue and are lost in the city. The player is tasked with finding and bringing back these AI taxis, with a payment offered for each one recovered. The Delamain taxis can be found in various areas of Night City, including The Glen, Badlands, Northside, Rancho Coronado, North Oak, Coastview, and Wellspring. Players can track the taxis individually through the journal and locate them by following markers on the map or receiving notifications from Delamain when passing through an area with a rogue taxi.

The Delamain Core Choice

Upon returning all the rogue AIs, Delamain contacts the player about a virus issue at his headquarters. The player must navigate through a gauntlet of lasers and attacking drones to reach the control room where they are presented with three options to fix the Delamain core: destroy it, reset it, or merge all the Delamain AIs together. Each option has different outcomes and implications for the game’s progression.

Choosing to destroy the core will liberate the divergent Delamains. This action results in the main Delamain personality being destroyed, allowing the other AIs to escape the garage and roam Night City freely. The player is rewarded with a special vehicle named Excelsior, which is part of the VIP program that saved their life earlier in the story. Excelsior becomes the player’s permanent vehicle and is added to their collection.

Resetting the Core

If the player decides to reset the core, all of Delamain’s alt personalities are destroyed, and he is returned to factory settings. Delamain will forget all interactions with the player but will gift them a car from the Delamain fleet. Driving around in this car will prompt Delamain to ask questions about human nature, leading to humorous dialogue options and bonding opportunities between the player and Delamain.

For players with high Intelligence stats, hacking the core to merge all the Delamains will result in Delamain ascending to a higher state of being. Delamain leaves to go ‘home’ and can no longer stay in the city. As a reward for the player’s assistance, Delamain leaves them with his ‘first true child’, a Delamain taxi with a Delamain Jr AI inside. This unique vehicle becomes the player’s property and can be summoned like other vehicles.

The Delamain Epistrophy mission in Cyberpunk 2077 offers players the opportunity to make significant choices that impact the game’s narrative and rewards. Whether the player chooses to destroy, reset, or merge the Delamain core, they will receive cash rewards for each taxi found, a final payout, and a special vehicle to own. The personality of the car and the player’s relationship with certain characters, like Johnny, can affect the game’s ending. Therefore, it is essential for players to consider their decisions carefully to achieve the desired outcomes in Cyberpunk 2077.
