The ongoing Major Order in Helldivers 2 has set the community the task of liberating Tibit before the weekend ends. The war effort in the Galactic West, however, has suffered a major setback. High Command is apportioning blame on distracted divers for this loss. Initially, players were making strong progress in liberating the western theater against the Automatons. However, a sudden twist from Game Master Joel forced players to choose between defending planet Draupnir or quickly liberating Ubanea. Unfortunately, the Helldivers were unable to mobilize in time and subsequently lost access to Ubanea. This loss was crucial as Ubanea would have been the key to reaching the Major Order goal: Tibit.

The Choice Between Draupnir and Ubanea

High Command stated, “Faced with the choice of dedicating adequate troops to hold Draupnir from a direct Automaton assault, or to attempt the liberation of Ubanea to serve as a new planetary base of operations, our troops opted for the latter.” The indecision in the initial hours led to a lack of concentrated troops to achieve either objective. Ubanea was reportedly 95% liberated before falling, and it would have only taken a few more hours to complete the liberation.

High Command also pointed fingers at divers who were occupied elsewhere, specifically the 35% fighting against bugs instead of bots. The lack of unity amongst the divers proved to be a hindrance in achieving victory. High Command emphasized the need for earned victories, highlighting the failure to earn victory on that day.

High Command criticized soldiers stuck at Malevelon Creek, commonly referred to as creekers. With an average of 25% of forces committed to defending and liberating Malevelon Creek, the success on Draupnir, Ubanea, and ultimately Tibit seemed unlikely with such a diversion of resources.

While High Command blames creekheads for the setback, some players on the subreddit directed their frustration towards the developers, Arrowhead. The lack of clear visibility of supply lines in-game is a point of contention. Planets on the Galactic Table in Helldivers 2 are connected by invisible supply lines, which players are not explicitly shown in the game itself. A fan-made website, however, provides this crucial information. This lack of clarity means that even though Malevelon Creek is part of the current Major Order, liberating it may not be the most efficient way to reach Tibit.

The Helldivers 2 community’s progress towards liberating Tibit has faced numerous challenges and setbacks. The lack of strategic decision-making, diversion of resources, and unclear game mechanics have all played a part in hindering the overall war effort. Moving forward, it is essential for the community to address these issues collectively to ensure a more coordinated and successful approach in achieving their objectives.
