Mike Nelson, the editor of Xbox Wire, revealed that Microsoft is collaborating with publishing partners to offer significant price reductions on games in the online store and on the console itself. The discounts have already begun and will continue to be rolled out on 18 June and 16 July, with the aim of ensuring that as many games as possible are repriced before the closure in July. The intention behind this move is to give players the chance to secure their favorite digital games from the Xbox 360 era before they are removed from the store.
Players who purchase Xbox 360 games from the store will still have access to them indefinitely, even after the closure of the Xbox 360 Store. This means that any games bought during the sale will be retained by the players, regardless of the online status of the store. While some games will still be available digitally through the newer Microsoft Store, the removal of the Xbox 360 marketplace is expected to drive up prices for physical copies of games, increasing their scarcity. Furthermore, digital-only games will no longer be accessible once the Xbox 360 Store is shut down.
Microsoft has compiled a list of Xbox 360 games that are heavily discounted, with most titles being offered at 80-90% off.
