Bang & Olufsen has recently unveiled its latest addition to their headphone lineup, the Beoplay H100. Priced at a staggering $1,549, these headphones are not for the faint of heart when it comes to budget. The company justifies this hefty price tag by emphasizing the use of premium materials, improved noise-cancellation, and enhanced repairability features. The Beoplay H100 showcases materials such as lambskin leather on the ear pad cushions and scratch-resistant glass covering the touchpad controls, providing a luxurious feel to the headphones. Additionally, the ability to easily detach and replace the ear pad and headband cushions, along with a revamped design for repairability, sets these headphones apart in terms of longevity and sustainability.

The sound quality of the Beoplay H100 is driven by a pair of 40-millimeter “custom-made titanium drivers,” ensuring high-resolution 96kHz/24-bit audio delivery. Furthermore, the headphones support Dolby Atmos spatial audio with built-in head tracking, offering an immersive listening experience. The active noise-cancellation feature, powered by 10 microphones, is claimed to double its performance, promising a serene environment for users. Switching between ANC and transparency modes is made convenient with an adjustable haptic dial on the ear cups, a feature reminiscent of Microsoft’s Surface headphones.

Battery Life and Convenience

Despite its impressive features, the Beoplay H100 falls slightly short in terms of battery life compared to its predecessor, the H95, offering 32 hours with ANC on as opposed to 38 hours. Additionally, enabling spatial audio and head tracking further reduces the battery life by two hours. Similar to Apple’s AirPods Max, the H100 headphones lack a power button and instead power on automatically when worn, enter a low-power mode when removed, and power off when placed in the included carrying case. Bang & Olufsen assures users that a quick five-minute charge can provide an additional five hours of playback, ensuring uninterrupted listening sessions.

The Beoplay H100 headphones are currently available for purchase through Bang & Olufsen’s website in three distinct colorways: infinite black, hourglass sand, and sunset apricot. This variety in color options allows users to choose a style that suits their preferences and personal aesthetic. Despite the steep price point, the headphones aim to cater to a niche market of audiophiles and tech enthusiasts who value premium quality and innovative features in their audio accessories.

The Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H100 headphones offer a combination of luxurious materials, advanced sound technology, and convenient features that may appeal to discerning customers willing to invest in a high-end audio experience. While the price tag may be a deterrent for some, the promise of superior sound quality, extended lifespan through repairability, and immersive features make these headphones a strong contender in the premium audio market.
