The highly anticipated video game “Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League” has failed to meet the expectations set by Warner Bros. Discovery Chief Financial Officer, Gunnar Wiedenfels. During a recent financial call with investors, Wiedenfels expressed his disappointment with the game’s performance since its release in the first quarter of 2024. According to Wiedenfels, the underperformance of Suicide Squad has put the company’s games business in a challenging position for the rest of the year.

Compared to last year’s successful release of “Hogwarts Legacy,” which received high sales numbers, Suicide Squad has not been able to replicate the same level of success. Rocksteady, known for their popular Batman: Arkham series, has returned to the superhero genre with Suicide Squad. However, the game has been plagued by technical issues such as server problems and login difficulties. Despite these obstacles, the core gameplay experience has also faced heavy criticism.

In a review by Steve Hogarty, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is described as a game with potential hidden beneath layers of repetitive gameplay mechanics. The game’s single-player action elements are overshadowed by tedious loot systems, making it difficult for players to fully enjoy the experience. While Rocksteady’s talent shines through at times, the extended development period for Suicide Squad has resulted in a game that feels outdated and lacking in innovation.

One of the main reasons for the disappointment surrounding Suicide Squad is the reputation of Rocksteady as the developer behind the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham games. Fans of the studio were expecting a similar level of quality and depth in Suicide Squad, but the game has failed to live up to those expectations. The narrative of a talented studio being constrained by corporate demands has further fueled the disappointment among players and critics alike.
