Paradox’s sci-fi strategy game Stellaris is known for its lengthy gameplay that can take hours to complete. However, the upcoming turn-based spin-off, Stellaris Nexus, aims to offer a full multiplayer 4X experience in under an hour. This has piqued the interest of players who may have lost interest in Stellaris due to its extended gameplay.

Gameplay Overview

Stellaris Nexus is not a sped-up version of Stellaris, but rather a new game built from similar pieces and ideas. In this game, up to six players will build their own empires and compete for control of Nexus, the galactic throneworld. Players will explore space, research new technologies, develop star systems, build fleets of spaceships, engage in diplomacy, espionage, betrayal, and murder.

Developer and Release Date

Stellaris Nexus is being developed by Whatboy Games, whose previous game was a deck-building tactics game called Trials of Fire. The game is set to enter early access on Steam sometime this year, with a demo available in the Steam Next Fest from June 19th.

Stellaris Nexus offers a fast-paced multiplayer experience that may appeal to those who found Stellaris too long and tedious. The board game-like experience with enforced rules and no chance of losing game pieces may be appealing to players who prefer digital games over traditional board games. Additionally, Paradox has announced another space-themed game called Star Trek: Infinite, a grand strategy game from the creators of Master of Orion.
