After more than two decades, Ratchet & Clank, a popular action platformer duo, is finally making its way to PC on July 26th. The latest game in the series, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, will be available on both PlayStation 5 and PC platforms. The PC port of the game is being developed by Nixxes Software, a studio that Sony acquired last year, in collaboration with Insomniac, the original developers of the game.

Details of the PC Version

The PC version of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will offer a range of new features, including ray-traced shadows, ultrawide support, unlocked framerates, and the ability to use various upscaling technologies such as DLSS 3 and FSR 2. In addition, the game will include all the classic elements of the series, such as jumping, shooting, and upgrading, as well as new portals called ‘rifts’ that allow players to move between different areas and worlds instantly.

Background on the Series

The Ratchet & Clank series is a long-running franchise that has gained a massive following over the years. The games follow the adventures of Ratchet, an anthropomorphic feline alien, and Clank, his robot sidekick who he carries on his back. The series is known for its action-packed gameplay, engaging storyline, and colorful visuals.

A Growing Trend

The arrival of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on PC is part of a growing trend of Sony porting its popular PlayStation games to PC a few years after their console release. Other titles that have made the jump include Horizon: Zero Dawn and Insomniac’s Spider-Man. While some of these ports have been successful, others have faced criticism, with The Last Of Us Part 1 being a notable example of a problematic port.

The arrival of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on PC is an exciting development for fans of the series and PC gamers alike. With a range of new features and all the classic gameplay elements that have made the franchise so popular, it’s sure to be a hit on the platform.
