Fans of the Legend of Zelda franchise are eagerly anticipating the release of the latest RPG, Tears of the Kingdom, and a new announcement has been made regarding one of its main characters. Patricia Summersett, who voiced Princess Zelda in 2017’s Breath of the Wild, will be returning to play the character once again in Tears of the Kingdom. Nintendo gave her the green light to confirm her involvement, and her announcement video is a heartwarming tribute to the series.

Summersett expressed her amazement at the origins of the Legend of Zelda franchise, which was created in part because of Shigeru Miyamoto’s love of the outdoors and nature. In honor of this, she shared a photo of herself as a child catching a frog in a coffee tin. “Thank you Nintendo and the wonderful team at Nintendo of America,” she said. “The adult in me is honored and the child in me is basically just hot-footed flipping out right now.”

Tears of the Kingdom will also feature Matthew Mercer as the voice of Ganondorf. Copies of the game have already leaked and some fans are sharing footage online, so those who want to avoid spoilers should be on high alert.

The game will be the first Nintendo-published title to retail for $70, but Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser explained in an interview that the price is justified by the “deeply immersive” experience that the game will offer. Expectations are high for Tears of the Kingdom, given the success of Breath of the Wild, which has sold over 29 million units and was critically acclaimed. Fans of the series are eagerly anticipating the release of the latest installment and are sure to be pleased with the return of Patricia Summersett as Princess Zelda.
