Nintendo has announced that the 2003 Game Boy Advance game, Fire Emblem, will be released on the Switch Online service on June 23. The game will be available to everyone subscribed to the Expansion Pack tier.

Details of the Game

Fire Emblem, also known as Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, is a tactical RPG. It was the first game in the series to be released outside of Japan. The game features permadeath, which means that if your soldiers die, they are gone forever.

The game’s story takes place in the nation of Lycia, which is on the brink of war after centuries of peace. The game’s protagonist, Lyn, along with Eliwood and Hector, must amass their own army to fight back against the forces that would destroy everything they hold dear. The players will gather heroes and train them to excel in a wide array of weapons and classes.

In the game, players will need to strategize their course of action around a variety of terrain and conditions to fulfill specific objectives. The game’s difficulty and strategic gameplay have made it a fan favorite.

Apart from the GBA release, Fire Emblem for GBA was previously released on the Wii U eShop in 2014. In April 2023, the title celebrated its 20th anniversary.

Japan will also be receiving the 2002 game Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, featuring Roy, this month.

To access the game on the Switch Online service, players will need to have subscribed to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier.

The release of Fire Emblem comes after an exciting week in the world of Nintendo, with all sorts of new game announcements at the latest Direct presentation. Japan also received Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade on its own service.

The release of Fire Emblem on the Switch Online service is great news for fans of the tactical RPG genre. The game’s strategic gameplay and permadeath feature make it a challenging and rewarding experience. With the game’s release on the Switch Online service, fans can relive the classic game or experience it for the first time.
