Newegg is currently offering a great deal on one of the best budget gaming laptops of 2023, the Gigabyte G5. The 16-inch laptop with an Intel Core i5 12500H and an RTX 4060 is available for $1,000. Although the discount is only $100 off the regular price, this configuration is still the cheapest since its launch.
The Gigabyte G5 KF offers excellent 1080p performance at a decent frame rate without turning on DLSS 3 in supported games. The laptop comes with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512TB NVMe SSD. While these specs are not cutting-edge, they can be upgraded in the future. There are usually good deals daily to score a decent SSD and RAM on the cheap.
Subdued Design and Loud Gaming
The Gigabyte G5 GF is also a great option for gamers looking for a more subdued design. It does not have an RGB on the lid or the rest of its 4.39 lb chassis, but it still comes with backlit keys. In our review of the laptop, we noted that it could get pretty loud when gaming. It is recommended to invest in a gaming headset or move to a different room to avoid disturbing others.
RTX 4060 Version is the Way to Go
While the RTX 3060 version of the laptop is cheaper, the RTX 4060 version is more powerful and efficient, making it the better choice. Additionally, DLSS 3 cannot be used on RTX 30-series cards, which is the feature we like the most about the RTX 40-series.
In our review of the Gigabyte G5, we applauded its gaming performance at 1080p, as well as its upgradability. The only difference between the reviewed model and the one currently on sale is that the reviewed model had 16GB of RAM.
