Metroid Prime Remastered was launched earlier this year on the Switch, followed by a release of Metroid Fusion on the Switch Online GBA service. However, fans are eagerly waiting for the release of Metroid Prime 4, which was first announced by Nintendo six years ago.

Possible Developments

While there have been no official announcements yet, it seems that there could be some developments happening behind the scenes. Recently, Nintendo of America’s Careers on social media highlighted that Retro Studios is currently seeking a VFX Artist, Animator, Senior External Environment Artist, and several other positions.

It’s not entirely clear whether the team is hiring for this specific project or could be assigning newly recruited talent to something else. However, all of the job listings include the following line: “Announced by Nintendo in January 2019, Retro Studios is currently in the midst of developing Metroid Prime 4 for the Nintendo Switch.”

Background

In January 2019, Nintendo revealed that development on Metroid Prime 4 had been scrapped and restarted. Retro Studios returned to get the project back on track. The original announcement dates back to 14th June 2017.

Release Date

In a recent earnings report last month, Nintendo listed Metroid Prime 4 with a release date of ‘TBA.’ This means that fans may have to wait a little longer for the game to be released.

Although there is no official news about the development of Metroid Prime 4, the recent job listings by Retro Studios have given fans hope that the project is still in the works. It remains to be seen when the game will be released, but fans are eagerly waiting for the next installment in the Metroid Prime series.
