Lego has recently announced its new Technic NASA Mars Rover Perseverance set, which is an upgrade from its previous Mars Rover model. The new set is priced at $100 and is a tribute to the real Perseverance rover that landed on Mars in February 2021.
New Features
The new Lego Technic NASA Mars Rover Perseverance set includes more realistic engineering and design as compared to the previous model. The set features an iconic six-wheel suspension that can spin 360-degrees with the help of a flick of a lever. This unique design allows the user to switch between the 360-degree mode and a normal driving mode.
The back of the set includes two additional dials that can be used to move the sample arm up, down, left, and right for play. With a height of 9 inches, a width of 9 inches, and a length of 12.5 inches, the set is relatively large.
Additional Features
The Lego Technic NASA Mars Rover Perseverance set also includes an AR app that allows users to pretend they are collecting rock samples. The app also includes educational content about the real-life Perseverance rover and its mission on Mars. Additionally, the app provides information about the local weather on the Red Planet.
Although it is not specified in the company’s press release, it is unclear if the set is compatible with Lego’s motors to allow for autonomous moving or steering. However, the set does come with a tiny Mars Ingenuity helicopter.
Availability
The set contains 1,132 pieces and is expected to ship on June 1st.
