Disney Speedstorm, a popular kart-racing game, has gained a following due to its engaging mechanics. However, the game has been hindered by an intricate and confusing progression system that players have found frustrating to navigate. Developer Gameloft has recently announced plans to address these issues and streamline the upgrade system for a more enjoyable gaming experience.

Overcomplicated Upgrade System

Currently, Disney Speedstorm features a convoluted upgrade system where players have to collect a variety of specialized materials for each character from different Disney franchises. With nearly 80 unique upgrade materials to keep track of, players often end up with resources they don’t need or want. This has made the upgrade process cumbersome and overwhelming for many players.

Upcoming Changes

In an effort to simplify the upgrade system, Gameloft has revealed plans for Season 7 of Disney Speedstorm. The upcoming season will introduce a new, universal upgrade currency called Upgrade Coins. All existing upgrade materials will be converted to this new currency, making it easier for players to understand and manage their upgrades. Additionally, a table detailing the cost of each upgrade level in Upgrade Coins will be provided to players for clarity.

While the new upgrade currency aims to streamline the upgrade process, players will still need to collect racer shards to unlock and improve their favorite characters. Raising a racer’s Star Level, which determines their level cap and perks, will still require effort from players. However, the introduction of Upgrade Coins should make it clearer for players to understand what is needed to upgrade their racers effectively.

The complex progression system in Disney Speedstorm has been a longstanding complaint among players and critics alike. The game’s initial release was met with criticism for its confusing mechanics, which some believed were designed to encourage in-game purchases. While the update to Season 7 may not resolve all the game’s issues, it is certainly a step in the right direction towards creating a more player-friendly experience.

With Season 7 set to launch in April, Disney Speedstorm players can look forward to a more user-friendly upgrade system with the introduction of Upgrade Coins. While there is still room for improvement in terms of racer unlocking and in-game purchases, Gameloft’s efforts to simplify the upgrade process is a positive development for the game’s community. As the game continues to evolve, players can expect a more enjoyable and streamlined gaming experience in the future.
