A player in Diablo 4 recently experienced a devastating glitch that prevented them from moving or utilizing life-saving skills during their Hardcore Sorceress run. This bug dashed their hopes of being one of the first 1000 players to reach the level 100 cap on hardcore mode. Everything had been going smoothly until they tried to use their ultimate skill, which caused their character’s animation to freeze, halting their progress and ultimately killing their run. Max “Maximum” Smith took to Twitter to express their frustration, stating that “dying to a bug after 18 hours of play is brutal.”

Max was among the players racing to become one of the first 1000 to reach the level cap on hardcore difficulty. This race, which invites players to “cheat death” and fight to be among the first 1000 players to reach level 100, began on June 1. The first 1000 players to reach the cap will have their username “immortalized on a statue of Lilith.”

Unfortunately, Max was not the only player to encounter issues during the race. Pro WoW player Imexile had a different issue when their Flame Shield failed to negate the effects of poison DoT, forcing them to quit, log back in, and see their character had died on the character creation screen. “I’m very confused at what just happened,” they said. “I don’t even know how to… What I was supposed to out-play?”

Despite these setbacks, both players have not given up and are currently grinding through a fresh attempt to still make it as a finalist. Diablo 4 has received a notable 5 out of 5 stars in the GamesRadar+ Diablo 4 review, with reviewers calling it “a diabolical assault on the senses.”

The ARPG has come a long way since Diablo 2 set the bar for the genre, and since Diablo 3 fractured the player base. However, some players feel that Diablo 4 could have gone further in its expansion, especially given the strength of contenders like Grim Dawn, Pillars of Exile, and Torchlight 2. Nonetheless, there is simply nothing quite as entertaining as Diablo 4 when it’s firing on all cylinders.

Diablo 4 will be available to all players on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S on June 6. Although glitches may occur, players can be sure that the race to reach the level 100 cap on hardcore mode will continue to be a thrilling and competitive experience for all.
