Funko and 10:10 Games recently unveiled the teaser trailer for their upcoming Funko Pop Vinyl crossover video game, Funko Fusion. The game features an eclectic mix of characters from various franchises, including The Umbrella Academy, John Carpenter’s The Thing, Chucky, He-Man, and Jurassic Park. The game is set to appeal to a niche crowd as it avoids major franchises like Marvel, Disney, Star Wars, or DC.

Funko’s extensive licensing of modern films and TV shows ensures an endless list of cameos for this property. While the game appears to be targeted towards adults due to the strict ratings of the franchises, the cartoonish approach to violence may still interest younger kids. Although some franchises like Chucky and The Thing may not be suitable for children, it is not uncommon for characters like RoboCop to become icons for kids.

Fun and Wholesome Funko Pop Romp

Funko Fusion is set to release for PC and consoles in 2024 and features action-adventure gameplay with battles, exploration, puzzles, and four-player online functionality. The game is being developed by 10:10 Games, founded by Jon Burton, who formerly founded TT Games. The game’s teaser trailer has revealed a lively adventure with light-hearted explosions and combat strongly reminiscent of the tongue-in-cheek LEGO games.

Funko Fusion has great potential with its spiritual predecessors’ sense of humor and in-jokes. Should the game adapt the same sharp humor, it may prove to be a fun and wholesome Funko Pop romp. With Burton and 10:10 Games at the helm, it’s best to keep an eye on Funko Fusion and its inevitable string of cameo announcements over the next few months, whether you’re a fan of the Funko Pop Vinyl franchise or not.
