Fast X, the latest installment in the Fast and Furious franchise, may be turned into a trilogy, according to star and producer Vin Diesel. Diesel revealed at the movie’s red carpet event in Rome that Universal has expressed interest in making Fast X a three-part series. Originally, the plan was to make two movies, but the studio reportedly asked for one more.

Diesel shared, “Going into making this movie, the studio asked if this could be a two-parter. After the studio saw Part 1, they said could you make Fast X: The Finale a trilogy? So umm,” Diesel trailed off. His co-star Michelle Rodriguez chimed in, “It’s three acts in any story.”

Diesel expressed concern about getting into trouble after sharing the potential trilogy news. However, it is possible that this was a planned stunt to generate more buzz for the Fast and Furious franchise.

Production Details and Star-Studded Cast

Fast X entered production in April 2022, but experienced some setbacks when director Justin Lin suddenly left the project. Louis Leterrier, known for directing The Incredible Hulk and Netflix’s live-action series Lupin, took over as director.

The movie stars Diesel, Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, and Sung Kang. Newcomers to the franchise include Brie Larson, Jason Momoa, and Daniela Melchior, in addition to Rita Moreno as Dom’s grandmother.

Fast X is set to hit theaters on May 19, 2023. With the potential for a trilogy, fans of the franchise can look forward to even more high-octane action in the future.
