Ducky, known for producing high-quality keyboards, has introduced a limited edition keyboard in celebration of the year of the dragon. With only 999 units available, this keyboard stands out due to its distinctive keycap design. Unlike traditional keycaps, these feature a composite design with PBT legends in the middle surrounded by a clear polycarbonate along the sides. The result is a floating keycap that not only offers durability but also adds a touch of elegance to the overall look of the keyboard.

In addition to the unique keycap design, the Ducky year of the dragon keyboard comes with two extra keycaps that feature a 3D effect, further enhancing its visual appeal. Each key is equipped with a tactile-feel Cherry Purple key switch, which is part of Cherry’s new MX2A switches. This ensures a smooth and responsive typing experience for users. Moreover, the keyboard is hot-swappable, allowing for easy customization and maintenance.

The underside of the keyboard is where things get truly interesting. The shell of the keyboard is made from a weighty block of anodized aluminum, reminiscent of the Ducky Outlaw65 DIY keyboard kit. However, unlike the Outlaw, the year of the dragon keyboard comes preassembled for convenience. The challenge in designing the exterior of the board was to incorporate a fantastic dragon motif on the aluminum surface. Ducky representative Erik explains that the traditional anodizing techniques could only produce one color, but with the new “full color anodizing” method, different layers and patterns can be achieved on a single plate. This results in a stunning and intricate “Soaring Dragon” pattern adorning the keyboard.

While the pricing for the Ducky year of the dragon keyboard has yet to be officially confirmed, pre-orders online suggest a price of $9,290 NT, approximately $287 USD. Due to its limited edition status and unique features, the keyboard may have a limited release in Asia. However, its innovative design and premium quality make it a desirable choice for keyboard enthusiasts worldwide.

Overall, Ducky’s limited edition year of the dragon keyboard stands out for its distinctive keycap design, tactile switches, and innovative shell construction. With a focus on both aesthetics and functionality, this keyboard showcases Ducky’s commitment to delivering premium products for gaming and typing enthusiasts.
