The search for Diablo 4’s secret cow level has taken an exciting turn as players discover three enigmatic relics tied to this elusive secret. In a recent video uploaded by Grampa Joe, a dedicated Diablo 4 player on YouTube, the existence and usage of these relics were chronicled, sparking a wave of speculation within the community. This discovery comes after an in-depth data mining effort in Season 2 of Diablo 4, revealing new pieces of the cow level puzzle. These relics, known as the Musty Tome, Bloody Wooden Shard, and Intricate Metallic Fragment, have ignited the quest to unlock the long-awaited cow level.

To obtain these relics, players must slay a staggering 666 cows, adding an element of challenge and dedication to this endeavor. Interestingly, different areas and specific cow populations determine the drop locations of each relic. The Musty Tome is believed to be obtained from cows in Scosglen or Fractured Peaks, while the Fragment drops in Dry Steppes, and the Shard comes from Kehjistan or Hawezar cows. Although the last kill must occur in the designated area, players can efficiently farm denser cow herds to optimize their time spent on the climb to the coveted 666 kills. Nonetheless, players report that this task can still take hours of gameplay.

Once all three relics are in your possession, the journey leads to Ked Bardu in the northwest. It is here, at the city altar guarded by imposing ox statues, that the relics must be utilized in unison. Combining their power at this sacred site will grant you a strange key, which opens the door to the Forlorn Hovel situated far to the east of Cerrigar, near the waypoint for the Highland Wilds ritual. Stepping into the hovel, one cannot escape the unnerving sensation of being watched by the multitude of cows that occupy the eerie space. Adding to the chilling atmosphere are the lifeless bodies of villagers strewn about, raising suspicions of foul play by these seemingly innocent creatures.

Sadly, the trail of the cow level comes to an end at the Forlorn Hovel. Drawing parallels to the Diablo 3 cow level, some players speculate that Diablo 4 players will embark on the next phase of the hidden quest by opening a portal within the hovel’s cellar. However, the exact next steps remain shrouded in mystery. For now, slaughtering cows does not appear to trigger any significant events, save for the last cow, which drops an enigmatic potion resembling powdered milk, whose purpose remains unknown.

The hunt for Diablo 4’s cow level and the subsequent discovery of the Musty Tome, Bloody Wooden Shard, and Intricate Metallic Fragment has injected fresh excitement into the game’s community. As players unravel the secrets behind these relics and navigate the Forlorn Hovel, anticipation builds for the eventual revelation of Diablo 4’s hidden quest. Until then, players will persist in their cow-slaying endeavors, driven by curiosity and the tantalizing promise of uncovering the mysteries that lie beyond the portal into the realm of sacred bovine.
