Elon Musk, the tech entrepreneur and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has once again made changes to Twitter’s logo. After initially replacing the platform’s iconic blue bird with an X logo, Musk decided to modify it further. The new logo featured slightly thicker lines, but Musk quickly expressed his dissatisfaction and announced that he would revert the change. In a tweet, he stated, “I don’t like the thicker bars, so reverting. The logo will evolve over time.” A visual comparison shows the subtle differences between the two logos.

Introduction of the Updated Logo

The updated logo had already been implemented on Twitter’s homepage, and Musk even changed his own profile picture to match it. However, the new logo has not yet made an appearance on Twitter’s mobile app. Although the changes are minor, the revised design closely resembles the concept presented by Twitter user Sawyer Merritt, whose logo Musk ultimately selected over the weekend. Musk had previously announced that he intended to rebrand Twitter as “X” and promised to go live with a new logo if he received a suitable submission. Musk subsequently pinned a tweet from Merritt that showcased a video of the X logo, which was then promptly displayed on the site.

The Interim Design

The initial version of the logo bears a resemblance to Monotype’s Special Alphabets 4 font and aligns with a Unicode character. Musk referred to it as an “interim” design, implying that it would not be the final iteration. However, it remains uncertain when or if Musk will settle on a permanent logo for Twitter.

Musk’s Decision to Reverse the Change

In a surprising turn of events, Musk decided to reverse the logo change. His impromptu experimentation and subsequent reversion reflect his inclination for continuous improvement and his desire to find the most suitable logo for Twitter. Musk’s comment about reverting the change adds to the ongoing narrative surrounding the evolution of the Twitter logo.

Overall, Musk’s involvement in Twitter’s logo redesign has sparked interest and speculation within the tech community. As Elon Musk continues to explore different design possibilities, the future of Twitter’s logo remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: it will continue to evolve.
