It has been confirmed that “Shadow of the Erdtree,” the upcoming DLC for Elden Ring, has been in development since April 2022. Kenneth (Kin Yue) Chan, the lead game designer for both Elden Ring and its DLC, updated his LinkedIn profile to include the DLC in his work experience section, replacing the previously listed “unannounced project.”

Potentially Larger Than Expected

The announcement of the DLC’s development suggests that it has been in the works just two months after Elden Ring’s official launch. Despite not having an official release date, rumors suggest the DLC will be substantial, potentially even bigger than expected. This is good news for fans of the game who have been eagerly anticipating new content.

Busy Year for FromSoftware

The upcoming DLC will be the second lot of extra content for Elden Ring since its launch. The first, the Elden Ring Colosseum update, added multiple PvP arenas and new game modes to the action RPG. FromSoftware has been busy over the last year, with the development of Armored Core 6: The Fires of Rubicon and potentially another new game. While fans eagerly await the new DLC, they can check out our list of games like Elden Ring.
