Blizzard has addressed one of the most common complaints about Diablo 4, the cluttered inventory space due to gems. In the latest developer livestream, Diablo 4 game director Joe Shely discussed a “longer term” solution that should arrive “around season 2.”
The Problem with Gems
Shely acknowledged that the game’s many colors and qualities of gems can take up a lot of inventory space. Players need to use gems to upgrade their gear and abilities, but the high number of gems makes it difficult to manage inventory.
The Solution
Shely’s solution is to change the way players acquire gems. Instead of taking up inventory space, gems will be a shelf in the materials or currency tab. Players can use a certain amount of material to craft gems in the same way they do today. This solution will be available around season 2.
Season 2 Release Date
The first Diablo 4 season will go live in the back half of July, with season two following in mid-to-late October. Therefore, players will have to wait a few months to see the solution to the gem issue.
Blizzard has finally found a solution to the inventory problem with gems in Diablo 4. Shely has addressed the issue and provided a solution that will be available around season 2. Players will no longer have to deal with the cluttered inventory space due to the high number of gems. Although this solution will take a few months, players can look forward to a better gaming experience. The next question players have is what Blizzard has in the works for a Diablo 4 party finder, something the company has supported in the past.
