Red Hook Games’ sequel to its roguelike, Darkest Dungeon, has finally made it out of early access and onto Steam. After two years of development, Darkest Dungeon 2 is now available in version 1.0.

What to Expect from Version 1.0

The official launch of Darkest Dungeon 2 on Steam brings with it a complete narrative featuring five acts and twelve playable characters. The Flagellant is the latest addition to the game, and as suggested by the name, thrives on his own suffering. He can take on negative status effects from other party members and gains buffs as he nears death.

Improvements and Feedback

Red Hook Games has listened to feedback from the Steam demo released in February and has made a number of improvements to the driving system, the Valley, and the first-time user experience. The 3D sections of the game have also seen improvements, making the game more enjoyable for players.

Mod Support

While the developers are “very passionate” about modding and have “a lot of great ideas” about how to implement mods, mod support will not be available at the 1.0 release. The developers plan to devote time to mod support after the official launch.

Darkest Dungeon 2 has finally launched on Steam, and Red Hook Games is excited to hear players’ feedback. The game is sure to be a hit among fans of the original, and new players alike. The launch trailer provides a glimpse into the game’s grim but beautiful world, and with twelve playable characters and five acts to explore, there’s no shortage of content to enjoy.
