Asus has announced that its upcoming gaming handheld, the ROG Ally, will not come with any form of game validation system. The company believes that the combination of a Windows 11 operating system and a powerful Zen 4/RDNA 3 APU will be enough to ensure that all games will work seamlessly without requiring any validation from Asus or game publishers.

Custom AMD Ryzen Z1-series APUs

The ROG Ally is equipped with custom AMD Ryzen Z1-series APUs. There are two different chips, a standard six-core, 12-thread version, and the Ryzen Z1 Extreme, with eight Zen 4 cores and 16 threads. Both versions come with AMD 780M integrated graphics silicon, and early benchmarks show that the chip can deliver over 60 fps at medium 1080p settings in modern titles.

ROG Ally Specs

The ROG Ally boasts impressive specifications, including 16GB LPDDR5 memory, 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD storage, a 7-inch 1080p screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz, and a response time of 7ms. It comes with Windows 11 as the operating system and weighs 608g.

Asus’ Commitment to Provide an Outstanding Gaming Experience

Asus has confirmed that it will work closely with game publishers to ensure that the ROG Ally delivers an outstanding gaming experience that exceeds users’ expectations. The company also plans to release an ROG Ally gaming guide in the future to help users get the most out of their gaming experience.

While Asus is confident that the Windows 11 OS will provide an excellent gaming experience, there are concerns about how well it will work on a small screen. The company is continuously refining its UI and user experience, incorporating feedback from beta users and the community to improve.

The release date for the Asus ROG Ally is May 11, and pricing information is yet to be disclosed. It will be interesting to see how Asus’ confidence in the power of its custom AMD silicon and Windows 11 OS plays out in the market.
