The announcement of Armored Core 6 has sparked a new generation of FromSoftware fans eager to experience the mech-based game. This has led to a surge in prices of older entries in the series on eBay, as fans seek to satisfy their craving for the game.

For instance, the original Armored Core released on PlayStation 1 has seen a significant increase in price, from around $80 to over $220 as of January 2023. While prices have slightly dropped, the game still commands an average of $130. This is an indication of the real hype surrounding AC6.

The effect of increased demand is also evident in the prices of other games in the series. Armored Core 3 on PS2 which once cost $25 now commands an average price of $75, while Armored Core 4 on Xbox 360 which was previously sold for around $12 now averages over $35. These games experienced a spike in prices in January, reaching 400% of their pre-AC6 prices before settling down to around 300% of the old prices.

The phenomenon of a new series entry raising the prices of its retro counterparts is not common. Although other games like Zelda, Resident Evil 4, and Dead Space have seen an increase in price, none of them compare to the surge in demand for Armored Core games.

Fans who wish to play the older Armored Core games may have to resort to retro hardware and software. While AC1 is available digitally on PS3 for $6, the console itself is considered retro. Some PSP ports of other AC games are available on Vita.

In summary, the hype surrounding Armored Core 6 has led to an increase in the demand for retro games in the series. While prices have slightly dropped since January, the surge in demand is still evident, and fans may have to resort to retro hardware and software to experience the older games.
