Annapurna Interactive has revealed their first internally developed game during their publishing showcase. The game is titled Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth and is set between the original Blade Runner film and its sequel, Blade Runner 2049. The announcement trailer gives a glimpse into the game, which seems to draw inspiration from Her Story and Immortality.

Key Details Unveiled

While specific details about Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth are scarce, Annapurna Interactive has shared some important information. The game is being developed in collaboration with Alcon Interactive Group, a subsidiary of Alcon Entertainment, which holds the rights to the Blade Runner brand. Chelsea Hash, known for her work on Annapurna-published games such as What Remains Of Edith Finch and Solar Ash, is directing the game.

Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth will take place in Los Angeles after the Blackout event. The Blackout is a significant event in the Blade Runner universe that was explored in the anime short film, Blade Runner Black Out 2022. Directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, the film serves as a prequel to Blade Runner 2049, along with two other shorts called 2036: Nexus Dawn and 2048: Nowhere To Run.

Interestingly, Annapurna’s press release mentions that Alcon’s Television Group is working on a live-action series called Blade Runner 2099, set to debut on Amazon Prime. It remains unclear if Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth will have any connection to this upcoming series.

As of now, these are the only details available about Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth. The nature of the game is still a mystery, with no information on gameplay or story elements. The only other Blade Runner game released was in 1997, a point-and-click adventure featuring the character Ray McCoy. It is uncertain if Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth will continue this story or present an entirely new narrative.

Based on the trailer, it appears that Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth may have similarities to Sam Barlow’s Her Story and Immortality. The protagonist is seen analyzing old surveillance footage, hinting at a potential mystery-solving element. However, this is purely speculative at this point.

Annapurna Interactive has promised to share more details about the game in the near future. Fans eagerly await further information to shed light on the highly anticipated Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth.
