The company plans to evaluate the results of this experiment and make necessary improvements before rolling out the feature to other platforms. The visual indicator will be displayed on the account’s profile, allowing users to identify officially verified accounts effortlessly.

In addition to the “Official” labels, Reddit has also shared its plans to enhance the accessibility of its iOS and Android apps. The company is working on compatibility with screen readers to ensure a seamless navigation experience for users with visual disabilities. The timeline for the rollout of these accessibility improvements begins with the left navigation menu, profile drawer, and bottom tab bar. Subsequent updates will cover various parts of the app, such as community pages, post details, and the home and popular feed.

After protests against the API pricing that led to the shutdown of some third-party apps, the company exempted certain accessibility-focused apps from the pricing policy. Last month, Reddit announced accessibility upgrades for moderators and formed an Accessibility Feedback Group to gather input from the community.
However, there have been some communication gaps. Moderators, such as MostlyBlindGamer from r/Blind, reported not being informed about the timeline for these accessibility improvements until they were publicized. They also expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of feedback after submitting feedback through the Accessibility Feedback Group form. Reddit has acknowledged these concerns and plans to select participants for the group in the coming week.
