According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter, Apple may hold a new product launch in October. Gurman speculates that the focus of this launch, which would come after the release of the iPhone 15, will be new Macs. One of the potential new offerings could be the long-awaited M3-powered iMac. Gurman had previously mentioned that Apple plans to introduce the M3-powered iMac by the end of this year.

While Gurman does express some uncertainty about his prediction, the timing seems appropriate. The last time Apple unveiled a new iMac was over two years ago when the company introduced its colorful redesign. However, it is important to note that this refresh may not include any changes to the iMac’s form factor. In his previous newsletter, Gurman stated that larger iMacs, possibly up to 32 inches in size, will not be available until late 2024. Therefore, the upcoming launch may simply involve a spec upgrade for the current 24-inch model, which is still a positive development.

Potential Updates for MacBook and iPad

Gurman also suggests that Apple may introduce M3-equipped updates for its 13-inch MacBooks, namely the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro. However, he does not provide any explicit information regarding the iPad. Gurman hints that a potential M3 version of the iPad Pro with an OLED screen could be released next year. On the other hand, he does confirm the development of a faster iPad Air model. This would bring the midrange iPad back to an annual release schedule, as it did not receive an update in 2021 and instead unveiled the M1-powered iPad Air in 2022.

It is worth noting that Gurman previously mentioned that the new M3 Macs, including the iMac and the 13-inch MacBook Air, could arrive either this year or next. If this turns out to be true, these devices would be the first to feature the rumored 3nm Apple Silicon chips. Earlier this year, supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has reliable connections within the industry, stated that new M3 Pro/Max chips are expected to be available in the first half of 2024. As we approach the end of the year, only time will tell if these rumors will come to fruition.

In summary, Apple is rumored to have a product launch in October, potentially showcasing new Macs. Among the expected releases is the M3-powered iMac. While the exact details remain uncertain, it seems likely that this launch will bring spec upgrades to the current 24-inch iMac model. Additionally, there may be updates for the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, featuring the M3 chip. As for the iPad, a faster iPad Air is in development, and a possible M3 version of the iPad Pro with an OLED screen is anticipated for next year. These new devices could potentially be the first to utilize Apple’s rumored 3nm Apple Silicon chips.
