Keeping a PC running smoothly can be challenging, especially when it comes to preventing heat issues that can damage components. Overclockers often use liquid nitrogen or giant copper blocks to keep temperatures down in their overpowered builds. However, even those running standard options should still be aware of their CPU temps, particularly if they are using a Ryzen 7000X3D-series processor.

According to reports, users are experiencing significant heat problems when using these CPUs in normal conditions, even with new motherboards. One Redditor reported that their PC fans were spinning loudly while their machine was idle. Upon investigation, it was found that the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D had a bulging CPU pad due to heat expansion.

While the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D is known for running hot, it should not deform due to heat. There may be an issue with the CPU or the motherboard that is causing this problem. Unfortunately, there is no concrete information on where the issue lies.

Other users have reported similar problems with 7000X3D-series CPUs on Asus and MSI boards. Overclocker der8auer experienced the same issues with one of these chips without even leaving the BIOS. As a result, it is advisable to ensure that your motherboard’s BIOS is up to date.

The good news is that for now, the issue appears to be limited to the 3D V-Cache series of Ryzen cards, rather than the regular Ryzen 7000-series CPUs. This means that those with the older series are likely safe for now, and the overheating may be exclusive to the specific V-Cache chiplet on top of the CPU.

There is not enough evidence to pinpoint the cause of the issue. Therefore, those with affected chips are advised to take extra care around their PCs, keep a close eye on CPU temps, ensure top-notch cooling, update their BIOS, and avoid leaving their PC turned on while unattended.
