OpenAI has introduced a new feature that allows users to turn off their chat history while using its chatbot, ChatGPT. According to the company, when this feature is turned off, previous conversations will not be saved, and the AI models will not use them for training. However, any new conversations will be stored for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse before being permanently deleted.

How to turn off chat history?

To turn off chat history, users can log in to their ChatGPT account and select the three dots next to their email address in the bottom-left corner of the screen. After this, they can click on the “Settings Show” button and toggle off the Chat History & Training setting to disable the chat history. Users can also download a copy of their information collected by ChatGPT by selecting the new “Export data” option.

Once the chat history is disabled, users will notice that none of their new conversations are saved to the history bar on the left side of the screen. They can turn the option back on by hitting the green “Enable chat history” button that appears in the column.

OpenAI has also introduced a new feature for its ChatGPT Business plan subscribers, which allows them to preserve chat history while opting out of its use as training data. This subscription is expected to arrive in the coming months and will be designed for companies that use ChatGPT. By default, conversations will not be shared with OpenAI.

In conclusion, OpenAI’s new feature gives users greater control over their data privacy by allowing them to disable their chat history. This move is in line with the growing concerns about data privacy and security, and it shows that OpenAI is taking these concerns seriously.
