There has been ongoing discussion about Ezra Miller’s future as The Flash in the DC Extended Universe. Miller has faced abuse allegations and legal issues, causing concerns among fans. However, director Andy Muschietti has expressed his support for Miller, stating that he would continue in the lead role if a sequel to The Flash were to happen and he and his producing partner, Barbara Muschietti, were involved.
Muschiettis Commend Miller’s Portrayal of Barry Allen
In an upcoming episode of The Discourse podcast, set to be released closer to the film’s premiere in June, Andy and Barbara Muschietti commended Miller’s portrayal of Barry Allen. Andy Muschietti stated that Miller played the character so well that it felt like the character was made for them. Barbara Muschietti praised Miller’s dedication to the role during the principal photography of The Flash, describing the actor as “brilliant, committed, and professional.”
Mixed Reception Due to Alleged Misconduct
Although Miller’s performance in The Flash has received positive early reactions, some fans remain troubled by the actor’s alleged misconduct. Despite Miller addressing the need for mental health support, it is unclear whether they will be involved in a sequel.
The Flash Presents Unique Challenges for a Sequel
The success of a superhero film usually leads to a sequel, but The Flash presents unique challenges. The movie was developed under the previous leadership of DC Studios, and while the new co-CEOs have expressed support for the film, a sequel is not an immediate priority in their plans to revamp the superhero universe. Nonetheless, if The Flash achieves both commercial success and critical acclaim, it is possible that the co-CEOs may reconsider their approach and consider a sequel.
