Bandai Namco producer Michael Murray took to Twitter to apologize to the fans who saw the video and stated that it was not how he and director Katsuhiro Harada had intended the reveal to happen. He expressed regret for the disappointment caused to fans and for the extra weekend work the development team had put in to create the video.

Katsuhiro Harada, the creative lead and director of Tekken 8, also responded to the incident on Twitter, with a less measured tone than his colleague. Although his tweet has since been deleted, it was screenshotted and shared online, in which he expressed his frustration with Bandai Namco. He warned them years ago about not using a timer for posting content. Harada also confirmed that Tekken 8 will have cross-play, something he had been pushing for since Tekken 7 was released. He compared the new game to Dark Souls, stating that it was a natural evolution of the series and that players who keep dying over and over are still having fun with the game.
