Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will receive a new content update, Update 10, called “Rejects Unite,” which will add two new missions and new cosmetics. The new missions are “raiding archives and offices in Archivum Sycorax – Throneside” and “yoinking crystals from a transit hub in Ascension Riser 31 – Transit.” The second mission will require players to collectively complete 1,400,000 missions in order to unlock it. To encourage players to try harder difficulties, playing on higher difficulty levels will count as more mission completions.

A new enemy, the Chaos Spawn, has also been added. This enemy was taken from Vermintide 2 and was adapted to fit Darktide. Changes from Vermintide 2 include a new leap attack, combo animations that reinforce the erratic frenzy theme, tweaked existing attack animations to reduce some of the fast damage timings, and new grab animations.

The game’s earnable hats and trousers and such will be available in a new shop that has been opened on the ship, and new cosmetics are also available for purchase in the microtransaction shop.

Crossplay Still Not Available

Although Darktide has been updated with new content, the major issue of crossplay still remains. The game will soon allow players on Steam and the Windows Store to play together, but the announcement has been cut from the public version of the press release, leading to confusion about whether or not crossplay will be available.

Crossplay is long overdue for Darktide, as it is difficult for players on Game Pass to play with their Steam friends. The game’s executive producer, Juan Martinez, has acknowledged the issue and the development team has been working to improve the game with regular updates, content drops, and numerous hotfixes.

However, the game’s grindy gear and crafting systems remain a major issue. Many players find the system to be a waste of time, which detracts from the game’s fun and exciting co-op ultraviolence.

Darktide is currently available on PC Game Pass and has a 30% discount on Steam until June 8th.

Overall, while the new missions and cosmetics are welcome changes, the lack of crossplay and the game’s grindy gear and crafting systems detract from the overall experience of the game.
