When playing Star Wars Outlaws, players will come across special doors that require a Slicing Kit to open them. It may seem like the kit can be purchased, but in reality, it must be unlocked through a specific mission. This task should be completed in between major story chapters to ensure the player is best prepared to take on future contracts and tasks.
To begin the process of acquiring the Slicing Kit, players must navigate to the Abilities / Experts menu and select ‘The Slicer’. This will reveal the location of The Slicer on the map, prompting players to fast travel nearby. Upon arrival near the Crimson Dawn District on Mirogana, players must stealthily maneuver through the area to meet Aila Bren, The Slicer, hiding near the landing pad. After incapacitating three guards, players can approach Bren at the back of the landing pad without interference from roaming guards.
The Mission:
Once players engage in conversation with Bren, they will be tasked with aiding her in a heist on an Imperial Station. Quest markers will guide players to the location where they must infiltrate, disable defenses, and assist Bren in escaping on a ship. This mission requires a significant time investment of 15-20 minutes, but the rewards make it all worthwhile. Upon successful completion, players will receive a call instructing them to visit Makal’s Gambling Parlour to claim their own Slicing Kit.
Unlocking the Slicing Kit not only grants players access to previously inaccessible areas behind special doors but also unlocks Aila Bren as an Expert and allows players to explore new skills in the Slicer ability line. This tool proves to be invaluable in certain situations, making tasks and contracts much easier to accomplish.
While it may seem optional, unlocking the Slicing Kit in Star Wars Outlaws is a crucial step in enhancing gameplay and ensuring players are well-equipped to face the challenges that lie ahead. By completing the mission to obtain the Slicing Kit early on, players set themselves up for success and open up a world of opportunities within the game.
