Modders MerseyRockoff and glassfish77 have recently made an incredible contribution to the gaming community by restoring a series of boat racing quests in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. These quests, originally cut from the game, have been recreated from scratch based on CD Projekt Red’s writing. The modders managed to bring back all the original writing and audio from the game files, including conversations, characters, journal entries, and quest board notices.

Players can now embark on these boat racing quests, starting in Novigrad and choosing to sail for either the city or Redania. With four tournaments to participate in, there is plenty of excitement to be had. While the boats in The Witcher 3 were not the most thrilling aspect of the game, the added conversations between quests make the experience more engaging. This mod brings a fresh perspective to the game and allows players to discover content that was previously inaccessible.

The discovery of these restored boat racing quests is just one example of the impact modders have had on The Witcher 3. Since the release of the REDKit modding tool, modders have uncovered various cut content pieces, such as a significant portion of the game’s ending. This includes a scene in which Yennefer betrays the Lodge of Sorceresses, adding new depth to the game’s narrative. Additionally, there were plans for ice skating swordfights that were prototyped but ultimately abandoned due to developmental challenges.

While some content may never see the light of day in the game, modders continue to push the boundaries of what is possible. The dedication and creativity of these individuals have breathed new life into The Witcher 3, providing players with a fresh gaming experience. As the modding community continues to thrive, it is likely that more exciting discoveries and enhancements will be made in the future. The impact of modders on The Witcher 3 is undeniable, and their contributions are invaluable to the gaming community.
