Kia has officially unveiled the final version of its highly anticipated EV3 small electric SUV, featuring a groundbreaking addition: artificial intelligence. This innovative vehicle was initially introduced as a concept car last year and is set to hit the South Korean market in July, followed by a release in Europe later in the year. While a US release has been confirmed, the specific timeline has yet to be announced.

One of the most noteworthy features of the EV3 is the integration of Kia’s voice-activated AI assistant, a feature previously seen in the Kia K4. According to reports, this assistant is based on ChatGPT technology but has been extensively customized to enable users to plan trips, access entertainment options, and much more. Initially, the AI feature will be available in Korea before expanding to the European market.

The EV3 boasts an estimated driving range of 600km based on the European WLTP system, equivalent to approximately 373 miles. However, it is important to note that US EPA estimates may vary. The long-range model of the EV3 is equipped with an 81.4kWh battery, while a Standard model with a 58.3kWh battery is also in the works. Additionally, Kia plans to introduce a sportier GT-line model to cater to different preferences.

In terms of technology, the EV3 features a sophisticated interior setup, including dual 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, a five-inch panel for HVAC controls, and a 12-inch heads-up display. The vehicle comes with premium streaming apps powered by LG’s webOS-based auto platform, allowing for a seamless entertainment experience on the go. Users can even personalize the dashboard with themes, including NBA-inspired designs.

Drawing inspiration from the popular Kia EV9, the design of the EV3 exudes a spacious and functional vibe, accommodating up to five passengers. The interior space is designed to accommodate personal items such as backpacks, with a sliding table that can hold a laptop. Additionally, the absence of a traditional gas engine results in a compact 25-liter frunk, aligning with Kia’s commitment to efficient use of space.

Kia’s EV3 represents a significant leap forward in the electric vehicle market, combining cutting-edge AI technology with impressive performance capabilities and a user-friendly design. With its imminent release in key markets, the EV3 is poised to redefine the driving experience for eco-conscious consumers seeking a blend of innovation and practicality.
