PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, also known as PUBG, has decided to bring back its original map, Erangel, in a move that seems inspired by its competitor, Fortnite. This nostalgic decision aims to draw in players who may have fond memories of the game from its earlier days.

Erangel Classic will not just be a simple map revival, but it will also include gameplay tweaks and updates to enhance the overall experience. These changes include rebalancing weapons with reduced recoil and longer time to knock down enemies, reintroducing bench weapons, bringing back weather conditions like fog and rain, and even updating the user interface with a vintage look to match the nostalgic feel of 2017.

For a limited time, from May 14th to May 28th, Erangel Classic will replace the latest version of the map in the Normal Match gameplay mode. This limited run allows players to revisit the original map and experience the game as it was during its early days.

It is clear that PUBG is taking cues from Fortnite with this move, as Fortnite had previously introduced a similar concept of revisiting past seasons. This strategic decision may be an attempt by PUBG to regain some of the player base it lost to Fortnite over the years.

Overall, the introduction of the Erangel Classic map is an interesting development in the world of battle royale games. By tapping into nostalgia and making gameplay adjustments, PUBG is aiming to reinvigorate the interest of its player community. Whether this move will be successful in the long term remains to be seen, but it is a bold step that shows the game developers’ commitment to keeping the game fresh and engaging for its audience.
