Weiss expressed his pleasure in going back to the “old-fashioned joys” of simply killing off a genuinely terrible character like Joffrey and Ramsay. He mentioned that these deaths felt like a way of balancing out the scales in terms of good guys versus bad guys meeting their demise in the harsh world of Westeros.
In particular, Benioff highlighted the power of Ramsay’s death scene, where instead of showing the graphic violence up close, the camera focuses on Sansa Stark’s reaction, which is a smile. This moment was significant as it symbolized the end of Ramsay’s cruel reign and Sansa’s empowerment after the brutal treatment she endured.
