Monolith Soft has released a new story-based DLC, Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed, introducing new heroes and significant changes to the gameplay. Similar to Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country, this prequel expansion takes us back in time to witness the dramatic events that led to Noah and Mio’s epic battle against Moebius.

Gameplay Changes

The DLC brings meaningful gameplay changes that improve the core of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. The new Unity Combos replace the Ouroboros transformations from the base game, allowing players to pair up their party members to perform specials. The Affinity system positively affects every aspect of the game and encourages players to explore more to collect items, open containers, and take down monsters. This revamped collection, exploration, and reward system gives the game a lift and a real sense of purpose.

The Story

Future Redeemed has a shorter running time of around 15-18 hours, but it wastes no time in throwing players into screen-shaking battles against spectacular foes. The story is packed with spoilers that affect the entire series of games and will rock the socks off series fans. The new heroes are likable, and the returning legends make for a terrifically exciting party of protagonists with which to strike out against an array of amazingly over-the-top Moebius baddies.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed is an awe-inspiring conclusion to the franchise, with a constant conveyor belt of meaningful moments that hits players repeatedly in all of the feels. The quality of cutscenes, carefully choreographed battle sequences, epic soundtrack, and top-notch writing all carry over from the main game. Monolith Soft has given us a carefully refined prequel experience, adding to and improving upon core combat and exploration elements that were already best-in-class. It provides something of a clean slate going forward for this most intriguing of franchises.
