Warner Bros. upcoming fighting game, MultiVersus, is set to relaunch on May 28 with some exciting updates and improvements. One of the most noteworthy changes is the implementation of a new game engine, the Unreal Engine 5. This new engine promises enhanced graphics and smoother gameplay for players on both PC and consoles. Additionally, MultiVersus is launching with updated netcode, aiming to provide players with better online connections for a more seamless gaming experience.

Game director Tony Huynh expressed the team’s dedication to incorporating player feedback into the development of MultiVersus. Huynh mentioned in an announcement video that they have learned a lot from the open beta and are committed to making a game that not only packs a punch but also leaves a mark on the fighting game genre. This shows a level of responsiveness and engagement with the community that is commendable and likely to result in a more polished final product.

One of the exciting additions to MultiVersus is the introduction of a brand new PvE mode that will be available at the game’s launch in May. This mode is expected to offer in-game rewards, although specific details have not yet been revealed by Huynh and Warner Bros. This mode could potentially bring to mind the popular single-player mode in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, known as World of Light. While it may not be a traditional ‘story’ mode like in Tekken, the PvE mode is sure to provide an engaging experience for players looking to enjoy the game solo.

MultiVersus’ relaunch comes over a year after the game was initially delisted and taken offline in April 2023. Although the game was originally launched as an ‘open beta,’ the lengthy beta period may have caused some players to forget this distinction. As a result, the decision to pull the game offline likely came as a surprise to many fans. However, with the upcoming relaunch, Warner Bros. aims to make a strong comeback and re-engage the player base with a more refined and feature-rich version of MultiVersus.
