Stardew Valley Update 1.6 is scheduled to launch on 19 March 2024, according to the game’s creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone. This announcement was made on Twitter along with a post commemorating the eighth anniversary of the game. Yes, you read that correctly – Stardew Valley is now eight years old and thriving more than ever due to fan support. As part of the celebrations for this milestone, fans can anticipate the release of an official Stardew Valley cookbook, a special concert tour, and of course, the highly-anticipated game update.

Initially intended as a smaller update focused on enhancing mod support, Stardew Valley Update 1.6 has evolved into something much more significant. Barone has revealed a plethora of new features that will be included in this update, such as a new major festival, two new mini festivals, and new late-game content that expands on each of the skill areas. Additionally, players can expect new items, crafting recipes, Joja alternatives for end-game quests, over 100 new lines of dialogue, winter outfits for villagers, and a new type of reward for completing billboard requests. The update will also introduce support for 8-player multiplayer on PC, along with many other small additions and adjustments.

One of the most intriguing teases from Barone is the introduction of a new iridium scythe tool. Players are encouraged to restart the game to fully experience all the new tweaks and additions in the update. While it is not mandatory to restart in order to unlock new items and features, Barone believes that doing so will enhance the player’s experience by allowing them to discover new features gradually, rather than all at once. With the upcoming update, there is a wealth of new content and surprises for players to explore and enjoy.

No matter what players have planned in Stardew Valley, there is now even more to anticipate with the upcoming Update 1.6. The game continues to grow and evolve, providing an ever-expanding world for players to immerse themselves in. As the release date approaches, fans can look forward to diving into all the new content and features that will be available, making their Stardew Valley experience even more enriching and engaging.
