Koei Tecmo’s video game adaptation of Attack On Titan, a popular anime series, was a daunting task. However, in 2016, Attack On Titan: Wings Of Freedom was released and it delivered on the series’ action, despite being a budget game. The game’s sequel, Attack On Titan 2, was released in 2018 and both games have now had a permanent price reduction.
Attack On Titan 1 is now priced at £35/$40, down from its previous price of £50/$60, and Attack On Titan 2 is now £40/$40, reduced from £55/$60. Although some may not be excited that two games from a few years ago have been reduced in price, the anime series remains popular and may garner interest.
The action-packed games allow players to feel like Spider-Man, controlling a squad of gas-and-grapple-propelled anime teens. The objective is to hack the limbs off enormous Godzilla-like monsters, although the monsters are actually naked sometimes-skinless giant humans. The destructible city setting adds to the excitement of the game.
While Attack On Titan 1 lacks polish and depth, it delivers a specific thrill that transcends those limitations. It is a seven-out-of-ten action game that is perfect for those who want mindless, violent fun. The anime series does not need to be watched in order to enjoy the game.
When the game was first released, the price tag of £50 was deemed absurd. Since then, it has had regular discounts and may receive deeper discounts in the future. However, for those looking for a game that is exciting and violent, Attack On Titan 1 and 2 may be worth trying out now that they are more affordable.
