In a recent turn of events, Dbrand, a renowned casemaker and gadget accessory manufacturer, has taken legal action against a competitor for copying their innovative “Teardown” skins. These distinctive skins allow users to see through the back cover of their electronic devices, offering a glimpse into the intricate components beneath. Coincidentally, Dbrand has not only announced this lawsuit but has also introduced an entirely new line of skins that take this concept to a whole new level.

When we talk about going deeper, we’re not merely referring to the surface level. Dbrand has pushed the envelope with their all-new X-Ray skins, which offer users an opportunity to delve millimeters deeper into their devices’ internal components. Unlike conventional methods of photographing a device with its back cover removed, Dbrand’s X-Ray skins utilize a 450-kilovolt X-ray technique. This enables them to capture details that would otherwise remain hidden from sight.

The scope of Dbrand’s X-Ray skins extends far beyond a select few iPhone and Samsung Galaxy models. They have successfully X-rayed and captured the intricate details of a staggering 125 different devices. This impressive list includes popular laptops like Dell XPS, Razer Blade, and Framework, as well as Microsoft Surface Pros, the Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, Sony PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and the Lenovo Legion Go handheld.

The high-resolution X-ray imaging necessary to achieve such remarkable results is made possible through a collaboration between Dbrand and Haven Metrology, a specialized lab. Using a custom-built 450-kilovolt unit with a 431.8mm detector, Dbrand’s X-ray skins offer a striking 50-micron resolution. To put this into context, other sources typically achieve around 120-micron resolution, making Dbrand’s technology approximately 240% more precise.

According to Dbrand CEO Adam Ijaz, even companies involved in military defense and space exploration turn to Haven Metrology when they require advanced X-ray solutions. The exclusivity that Dbrand holds with Haven Metrology for the use of digital X-ray imaging in hardware accessory production further cements their technological prowess in this field. With a rough build cost of around US$1.5 million, no other company has access to this groundbreaking tech for the purpose of creating X-ray cases or skins.

While I haven’t been a fervent supporter of skin accessories in the past, Dbrand’s X-Ray skins have managed to capture my attention. As both an X-ray enthusiast and a gadget aficionado, I recently placed an order for one of these skins for my Z Flip 5. The promise of experiencing the inner workings of my device firsthand was too enticing to resist.

Embracing the Dark and the Light

In a stroke of genius, Dbrand offers users the choice between both “Dark” and “Light” versions of their X-Ray skins. This limited-time offer eliminates the need for individuals to choose as they can now admire the visually appealing details of their device’s insides with both options. As each gadget differs in terms of internal composition, one variant may showcase the internals more spectacularly compared to the other. Ultimately, it boils down to personal preference and the specific gadget in question.

Dbrand’s X-Ray skins come at a price range of $25 to $50, excluding tax and shipping fees. This relatively affordable cost allows gadget enthusiasts to enhance their devices’ aesthetics while simultaneously gaining an immersive insight into their intricate inner workings.

Dbrand’s latest offering of X-Ray skins represents a revolutionary step forward in the world of gadget customization. By combining cutting-edge X-ray technology with innovative design, Dbrand empowers users to witness the mesmerizing beauty of their devices’ internal components while also protecting them. As more individuals seek to personalize their electronic devices, Dbrand’s X-Ray skins remain at the forefront of this evolving market, offering an unparalleled and awe-inspiring experience like no other.
