In recent times, excitement has been building around Bethesda’s highly anticipated spacefaring RPG, Starfield. As the game prepares for its official launch tomorrow, the modding community has already been hard at work, with numerous mods already available. While most of these mods focus on simple asset swaps or UI tweaks, a significant step forward has been taken with the release of the Starfield Script Extender.
The Starfield Script Extender, or SFSE, is a remarkable tool developed by renowned modder Ianpatt. Building upon his previous Script Extenders for Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Fallout 3, and Fallout 4, the Starfield Script Extender adds “additional scripting capabilities and functionality” to the game. Although the Script Extender itself does not alter the gameplay experience, it serves as a foundation for other modders to create more complex and innovative additions to Starfield.
Just as with Ianpatt’s previous Script Extenders, the Starfield Script Extender is expected to become an indispensable asset within the modding community. In fact, many of the top mods for Skyrim, Skyrim Special Edition, Fallout 3, and Fallout 4 relied on the Script Extender or necessitated its installation for proper functioning. Given this track record, it is highly likely that Starfield’s modding community will follow suit. The rapid release of the Script Extender shortly after Starfield’s pre-order early access period further highlights the dedication and skill of modders within the community.
The Starfield Script Extender is now available for download on Nexus Mods. However, it is important to note that it is specifically designed to work with the Steam version of the game. Players who purchased Starfield through the Windows Store or are utilizing Game Pass will unfortunately not be able to utilize the Script Extender’s capabilities.
With the announcement of the Starfield Script Extender, anticipation grows for the future of modding within the Starfield universe. While the modding community has already produced a selection of intriguing mods, it is expected that this offering will expand significantly in the coming days and weeks. This may suggest that certain aspects of Starfield may require improvement, and mods will act as a viable solution to enhance the overall gaming experience. Whether this notion holds true will be further explored in our upcoming review of the game.
As the countdown to the official launch of Starfield continues, the modding community has already made substantial contributions to the game’s enhancement. The release of the Starfield Script Extender signifies a significant milestone, opening up the realm of possibilities for future mods. While the availability of the Script Extender is limited to the Steam version of Starfield, it remains a promising step forward for the community. With the launch of the game imminent, it is an exciting time for both players and modders alike, as they prepare to embark on incredible adventures in the vast reaches of space.
